The electricity sector continues to be rated the highest in infrastructure quality by 1,300 FDI enterprises in 2022. The quality of electricity has received positive evaluations from FDI enterprises for many years.
On April 11, 2023, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) announced the 2022 Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI 2022) Report. This report is based on an annual survey of over 8,000 domestic private enterprises, 2,000 newly established enterprises in 63 provinces and cities nationwide, and 1,300 FDI enterprises from 51 provinces and cities.
The PCI is built from the largest annual enterprise survey data in Vietnam, representing the voice of the business community regarding the business environment in the provinces and cities.
In PCI 2022, infrastructure is evaluated across five areas: Industrial Zones, Roads, Electricity, Telecommunications, and Other Infrastructure. For the sixth consecutive year, electricity led the PCI Infrastructure Index, with 62.5% of enterprises rating the changes as Very Good/Good.
The quality of electricity is also a highlight in infrastructure at 63 centrally governed provinces and cities, according to evaluations by domestic enterprises.
To achieve these positive results, the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) has implemented a series of measures, particularly digital transformation, to improve services and enhance the quality of electricity supply. 100% of electricity services are provided online at level 4.
Since January 2022, EVN has launched the digital ecosystem – EVNCONNECT, connecting with the national population database and the electronic invoice system of the General Department of Taxation, five months ahead of the Prime Minister’s requirement.
By the end of 2022, over 92% of customers had paid their electricity bills without using cash; 99.91% of electricity service requests were received through Customer Care Centers, Public Administration Centers, and Public Services; the rate of electronic contract transactions for electricity sales reached 99.37%.
The quality of electricity supply has continuously improved. The infrastructure in the electricity sector has been continuously upgraded, with 100% of communes and 99.7% of households nationwide having electricity. The proportion of rural households with electricity reached 99.53%.
Efforts to reform electricity service procedures and enhance electricity supply quality have helped Vietnam achieve a ranking of 27th out of 190 countries and economies worldwide and 4th in the ASEAN region in the electricity access index.
These achievements have been recognized by VCCI and the business community, serving as a significant motivation for EVN to continue improving and enhancing the quality of electricity supply and customer service.
